Alpine, North Slope, Alaska
our-camps

One of the newest and most modern of fields on Alaska’s Western North Slope, Alpine is located 34 miles west of the Kuparuk River Unit and eight miles North of the Inupiat Village of Nuiqsut. Alpine has no permanent road system connecting it to other North Slope infrastructures; therefore in the winter an ice road is built connecting it to Kuparuk. During the ice road season, numerous loads of materials and supplies are trucked into Alpine that cannot economically be flown in during the summer months.

After ice road season, groceries and supplies are flown into Alpine twice weekly. Alpine is a 620 person camp, committed to ensure a safe working environment with a goal of achieving a Zero Incident Culture. Kuukpik Arctic Services’ (KAS) Camp Services maintains the Alpine Operations Center (AOC Camp) with highly skilled and qualified maintenance personnel, a Housekeeping Department committed to excellence, and a Catering Department which provides three hot meals daily to the workforce.

“We would like to recognize the KAS staff for services provided during our stay at the Alpine facility. We have been treated with the utmost respect quality and courtesy. We would like to give a special thanks to the kitchen catering staff that recently provided hot meals on short notice to the CH2M Hill crews during the J9 building concrete pours in which our team was not able to stop for lunch and come to camp. This is an example of the overall service provided to us and we can hardly thank you enough”.
